Gilberts Goldener Adler
A tavern the way it should be: a cozy parlour, a courtyard under string lights and homemade cooking from ingredients grown next door. Guests have been stopping in at our house for more than 150 years.
Reservations Tuesday to Saturday from 3 pm, by phone only.
A tavern with history.
First „Zum Weißen Schwanen" (the White Swan), then „Zum Goldenen Adler" (the Golden Eagle). Our house is one of the old inns of Hendesse.
In 1886 the Gilbert family took over both tavern and brewery. Beer was once brewed right here, and our name remembers the Gilberts to this day. For decades the Golden Eagle was the clubhouse of the local gymnastics club Turnverein 1886 Handschuhsheim; since 1997 the Löchel family has run the house as the second tavern of the Alt Hendesse family.
